Math Circle Returns for Spring 2023
One section each of Middle School and High School Math Circle will be held on-campus. We will also offer one High School and three Middle School Sections online. All students participating on-campus will be required to submit proof of vaccination (including Booster shot), keeping with Emory policy.
Math Circle Registration
The spring registration of Emory Math Circle has begun. Students in grades 6 - 12 are eligible.
In order for you to receive updates about registration, special events, and more, we invite you to join our mailing list and be on the lookout for emails from MailChimp.
Registration for Spring 2023 will close on February 17.
Registration Process
Any time before February 17, you may register your children for spring classes. Note that classes begin before this deadline on January 27. Please follow the instructions on this page.
On January 25, we will assign students to one of our classes. Parents will receive an email telling them which class their children are enrolled in. Ideally, every student gets their preferred class time, but that might not always be possible. In such a case, classes will be assigned to the students on a first come first serve basis in order of preference.
After January 25, you will still have until February 17 to register your children for spring classes. If there are any openings among your preferred classes, your student will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. On the evening of February 17, 2023, registration for spring classes will close. For more details on how to register, see below.
Step 1: Pick Your Level
Choose which level is appropriate for each of your children. Typically, we have five levels, but currently, we have combined the first two: Middle School A and Middle School B.
- Middle School A - best for middle school students who are new to math problem solving, or are new to Emory Math Circle.
- Middle School B - best for middle school students who have some problem solving experience, or have been with Emory Math Circle for over a year.
- Middle School C - best for middle school students who have lots of problem solving experience, or have been with Emory Math Circle for over two years.
- High School A - best for high school students who have some problem solving experience.
- High School B - only for students who have previously been in Middle School C or High School A for at least a year and are no longer challenged there.
Step 2: Rank the Available Sections
When registering for the lottery, you will need to rank the sections available for your child's level.
For some levels, there is only one section available. This semester for planning purposes due to the virtual environment, we have combined Middle School A and Middle School B, which have three sections available. Each section of a class (usually) meets every other week, with the full schedules listed below. For each of your children, choose the section that works best for your family's schedule. Please only include sections where you expect to be able to attend at least four of the six sessions.
